New to Pilates?

  • Book in for an Initial Consultation to start your Pilates journey

You will need an initial consultation to participate in our clinical classes, this is a one hour private session with an experienced Pilates instructor in which we take the time to get to know you, discuss your lifestyle, interests, exercise history and any injuries or conditions you are managing. These sessions give us an opportunity to familiarise you with the Pilates equipment and start introducing you to the foundations of the Pilates Method so you get a feel for what to expect in your following Pilates sessions.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE MY FIRST CLASS?

Please arrive at the studio 5 minutes before your first class to fill out the necessary forms & waivers.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CLASS? WHAT DO I WEAR?

Please wear appropriate clothing to move in, socks, a towel and a water bottle. Be mindful of baggy clothes, for example, baggy shorts may gape so you might want to wear compression tights or bike shorts underneath.

Socks are compulsory in the studios for hygiene reasons, they are available to purchase at the studio for $???. Please no chewing gum in the studios, for safety reasons.

CAN I STILL COME TO CLASSES IF I AM PREGNANT?

CONGRATULATIONS! You can still attend our classes at all stages of Pregnancy! Our Clinical Pilates is preferred, which you can attend through every stage of your pregnancy journey. Reformer, Barre, Matwork & Arc is suitable through your early stages, but as bub grows we will need to modify your exercises and then swap you over to Clinical. If you have never attended Clinical before, you can book in for an IC to familiarise yourself with the equipment and also learn how to safely continue your exercise regime.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLINICAL AND REFORMER?

In short, Clinical Pilates encompasses a multitude of Pilates apparatus and is suitable for all levels of fitness, injury, chronic pain, post-surgery and pre/postnatal. Reformer Pilates is all done on 1 piece of apparatus, the reformer, and is a group based work out where only slight modifications can be given.

This is not to say Clinical is "easier"! Some elite athletes turn to Clinical Pilates to hone their craft, but on the other hand Reformer Pilates is not going to be beneficial for someone who is working with an injury.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT TO MY CLASS?

There is a 12 hour cancellation policy on all classes. Any class cancelled after the 12 hour cut off will be charged due to limited places being available. If you need to cancel outside of the time frame, your class will be credited back to your account. Please understand that we have this policy in place to ensure people do not miss out on their preferred class, we are willing to make exceptions in unforeseen circumstances.
